We organize every project into one of five design tiers based on scope and complexity. Each tier defines what’s included, how much time is budgeted, and exactly what you receive at the end of the design phase.

1 | Consultation & Minor Work
Minor updates, fixture replacement, door/window replacement, small flooring, planning consultations. Planning notes, product recommendations, project selections spreadsheet, budget estimate, drawings if required for permitting.

2 | Basic Design & Planning
Budget bathroom remodel, deck/patio replacement. Hand-drawn plans, project selections spreadsheet, preliminary and detailed budget estimate, basic 3D views on request.

3 | Complete Design & Documentation
Small kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, standard basement remodel, deck/patio addition. As-built documentation, demolition plan, detailed floor plans, permit-ready construction documents, elevations & sections, 3D renderings on request, product specifications, electrical & lighting plan, plumbing fixture locations, detailed budget estimate.

4 | Full-Scale Design & Engineering
Whole-house remodel, additions, complex structural work, Landmarks projects, multi-floor renovations, custom kitchen. Everything in Tier 3, plus: structural engineering plans, detailed electrical/lighting plans, window & door schedules, specialty consultant coordination.

5 | Estimating & Construction Support
Client or outside architect supplies plans; Westring supports estimating, coordination & the build. Plan review & constructability analysis, estimating & budget development, site visits & field verification, trade coordination, product selections, code & permit research.

What Triggers Additional Fees
- Scope changes after schematic design approval
- Redesign of approved drawings due to preference changes

Tier 5 Billing Note
For projects using owner-supplied plans, all hours are billed at $125/hour from first engagement. A Budget Update Notice is sent when hours reach 80% of the initial estimate. Written authorization is required before additional hours are incurred.
